Day 16: Get Back On Track

Day 16: I see the light and love of Jesus…

Day 16: 11 May 2018

Introduction: Thanksgiving, Praise and Worship exercise

SONG:  Third Day, You Are Beautiful My Sweet Sweet Song

One of my all-time favorites. This song has always reached places deep inside of me that usually do not get penetrated. Lord, touch those sweet sweet places inside me, that are so vulnerable I cannot even get to.

“You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
And I will sing again

You are so good to me
You heal my broken heart
You are my father in Heaven

You ride upon the clouds
You lead me to the truth
You are the Spirit inside me

And I will sing again

You are my strong melody, yeah
You are my dancing rhythm
You are my perfect rhyme
And I will sing of You forever

You poured out all Your blood
You died upon the cross
You are my Jesus who loves me

EVERY single time I hear those three lines in this song, my heart slows, my actions pause, I get lost in those exact words. To even try to imagine the amount of love you have for your children to pour out your blood, for us!!

And now, after losing the life-blood inside of my body literally, those lines mean even more to me. My Lord, you are SO sweet, I can feel your blood flowing through me. Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice.

You are my Father in Heaven
You are the Spirit inside me
You are my Jesus who loves me”

Father, Son, Holy Spirit, you are everything.

Boho Style
I praise and worship you!!

God, you gave your son and all of his blood, for us.

Son Jesus, you gave all of your blood, for us.

Holy Spirit, you live inside of the believer because of Jesus’ blood, for us and the Kingdom of God.

God:For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  ~ John 3:16 NIV

Son (even in his prayers for us, he sacrificed his blood – don’t get all legalistic on me, I know it says “like blood”): “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.”  ~ Luke 22:44 NIV

Son:“But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.”  ~ John 19:33-34 NIV

Son: Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!”  ~ Romans 5:9 NIV

Holy Spirit: This is the one who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son.”  ~ 1 John 5:6-9 NIV

Beautiful girl with a guitar
Father, I will sing your praises while on this journey.

Step 1: Gather

Last night I had the thought that this particular song is what I wanted for today’s brain detox song. As I woke up in the middle of the night, each time, I found myself singing this song. Okay, so I was singing it in my mind. Even the birds in the air do not want to hear me sing. I know, supposed to be a joyful song but…

I love making myself smile. I am the funniest person I know. Been saying that one for decades. The only one who agrees with me is, well, me.

God, you created us in your image. Thank you for including humor in your creations. I can only imagine how funny I am going to be when more of my bondages are broken. Take away the yuck and muck of my thought life and the true me just might get revealed once and for all.

Three girls are lying on the trunk and raised their legs up
May my joy in YOU, Lord, be walked out with you.

I have always been intense, serious, overly focused. I also have always had Lyme which creates a lot of that in the physical brain. I also have always lived in oppression or abusive situations which intensifies those characteristics.

Yuck and muck be gone. Get out of my head. I will do as many 21-Day Brain Detox’ as it takes to get there. I will continue to stay in God’s word daily for the rest of my life to soften the edges of the hard thinking that goes on in my mind. Fill my mind with your word, the only truth, Lord.

“In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”  ~ 1 John 5:3-5 NIV

Lord, keep my eyes and heart focused on you alone.

Step 2: Focused Reflection

“Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.”  ~ 1 Timothy 1:19 NLT

Whew, I am supposed to be very specific about my toxic thought in this step. I want to shove it away, not think about it, not pull out the details of it. To get through this, I need to follow the correct baby steps.

Okay, yes, the toxic thought is still there. The pain and fear of abandonment issues still stings. They are a bit further away, but the bitter truth is that they are still a part of my thinking. That simply needs to be okay for today.

There, my conscious is clear, I will NOT be shipwrecked.

Every thought being taken captive, will come in time. Be kind to myself as I work through this. Pure thoughts towards myself will go a long way.

“You lead me to the truth. You are the Spirit inside me” I am along for the ride, wherever you take me.

Step 3: Journal

ONLY pure blood flows through my veins. It has been literally replaced, replenished, resurrected, redeemed.

“To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.”  ~ Titus 1:15

Lord, shied my soul from those who cannot see you.

Step 4: Revisit

Holy Spirit, what do you want me to see today?

Easy, see the smile that comes because of this particular song and how it gets me closer to Jesus. I feel you, Lord, in a different way through this song.

My smile can be an indicator of healthy Godly boundaries. Those who wipe that smile off my face with their mean-spirited actions, or inactions, are to be on the other side of the fence.

The smile does not have to be revealed on the outside of my face, it can be my smiling heart. There just are some conversations that are serious, but I know exactly when the seriousness does NOT wipe away the smile in my heart.

Step 5: Active Reach

“If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  ~ 1 John 1:6-9 NIV

Simple as that, do it, get on with getting on.

The last couple weeks, the extreme isolation has been lifted. In small part by my efforts but mainly by the actions of others. Physically, I do not have the ability to do much about my isolation. True friends have prayed me through it. God has delivered me from it.

Beautiful hippie peace sign girl
Sweet Sweet Jesus, you have filled my time of isolation, replaced it with peace.

No whining here. That extreme isolation blessed me in an abundance of ways.

Time to take the lessons learned, the deep meaningful time alone with you Lord, and be truly see the blessings from it all.

Your timing is perfect. Years, YEARS, of extreme isolation. I am not saying the floodgates have opened but I am saying that the transition is quite noticeable. Now, it is time to be in fellowship with humans who desire the same.

It has been like hitting the reset button. Time to try again, with a pure heart and actions, focused on you, Christ.

Decision:

I have hit the reset button and God has clearly hit the reset button by the emergency and the saving of my life. Whether others want to cooperate or not, I am going to try this again. This time with a fuller understanding of Jesus’ blood flowing in me and through me.

Show me YOUR way, Sweet Jesus.

Keep your undies on because the reset button has been RE-set by God himself.

Action:

Just simply be me. My Creator has laid his claim to his creation exactly like it is. I am created by God, paid for by the blood of Christ, and am a temple of the Holy Spirit. I have not been placed on this earth for humans to use me as a doormat. As a human, I am greater than the animals of the earth. No more feeling inadequate or unworthy. That is like spitting in the face of God himself, the ultimate Creator.
