Tornados are a part of living in Texas. I live in Tornado Alley geographically and metaphorically. I have learned about a tornado’s “eye of the storm.” It is that peaceful place smack dab in the middle of the most uncontrollable natural devastation one can imagine. Tornados are one of those few weather phenomena’s that catch the fury and destructive powers like nothing in comparison. Life can be that way as we walk through chronic illness and pain. We walk through the pain and cannot imagine human life could endure such. Then we enter into the middle, into the eye of the storm, we get a moment of rest and receive a peace and a new insight to endure the other side of the storm. God always provides. He promises it and He always keeps His promises. Jesus Christ is my hope and salvation so I will hang on through the storms of illness and pain, no matter what.
God always provides. He does not promise protection and health but he always delivers on His promise to provide.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19 NIV
“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.” – Matthew 6:31-32 NIV
“The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.” – Psalm 34:10 NIV
There is no possible way I can explain it any better than Ryan Stevenson in his powerful song, “Eye of the Storm.”
“Eye Of The Storm”
When the solid ground is falling out
From underneath my feet
Between the black skies and my red eyes
I can barely see
When I realize I’ve been let down by my friends and my family
I can hear the rain reminding me
In the eye of the storm, You remain in control
In the middle of the war, You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor, when my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me in the eye of the storm
When my hopes and dreams are far from me
And I’m running out of faith
I see the future I pictured slowly fade away
And when the tears of pain and heartache are pouring down my face
I find my peace in Jesus’ name
In the eye of the storm, You remain in control
In the middle of the war, You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor, when my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me, in the eye of the storm
When they let me go and I just don’t know
How I’m gonna make ends meet
I did my best
Now I’m scared to death
That we might lose everything
And when a sickness takes my child away
And there’s nothing I can do
My only hope is to trust You
I trust You LORD
In the eye of the storm, You remain in control
In the middle of the war, You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor, when my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me, in the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm, You remain in control
In the middle of the war, You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor when my sails are torn
Your love surrounds me in the eye of the storm
