Now We Have Sparetime To Practice The Fruit of The Spirit

Spread fruit, not fear - Fruit of the Spirit

Think about it, today in America President Trump has asked us to stay home for a while. Most other countries are doing the same. So here we all are, at home with some extra time on our hands. What do we do when we get lonely from all of the isolation? We have received a rare opportunity to have some extra time to practice the fruit of the Spirit. I just think this is so awesome what God provides.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfullness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

~ Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

What a blessing to be able to have the time and opportunity to slow down and kick into high gear the fruit of the Spirit.

Seriously. Think about it. Usually, our lives are busy. They are filled with work and family and friends and activity galore.

This is a chronic illness blog for Christians so I am assuming your life has been filled with the daily grind of illness and those trials. You know how much it takes to get through the day, they are “busy” days just getting through chronic illness.

This current pandemic with the CoronaVirus has changed things up, turned us on our heads in. Not a bad way but in a good way. Our routines are being shaken up. Our normal/normal is not in place anymore. I see that as a good thing.

Shake it up Lord!!! Shake out my cobwebs. Shake out the bad and make room for the new. Fill me up with you, Lord, fill me to overflowing.

Here we are, smack dab in the middle of this let’s make the best out of it. Let’s see how much love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfullness, gentleness and self-control we can pour out of us.

There is so much fear in so many right now that many are more stressed than ever. This is our time to shine the light of Christ even more brightly.

What Fruit is Still on Your Shelves?

I know, our shelves are getting bare in the grocery stores. Bet you can still find some “fruit to spread.”

Show others what you are made of. When they are grumpy and scared show them love and self-control. When others stir up more chaos, be the one who stands out because you are so peaceful.

Be gentle and kind towards others more than ever. It just might get noticed more than usual during this very odd time.

Forbearance often gets looked over. As Christians, we are supposed to have a wider perspective, an eternal one. That means we clearly know that this too shall pass. One way or another, it will pass. Stand strong with forbearance, knowing who is in charge and who will take care of this situation.

We can also show goodness, just plum old-fashioned goodness. Don’t take advantage of anyone during this time. Show others your deep down goodness that lives in you because you are a child of God.

What a perfect time to practice the fruit of the Spirit. The tone of mankind is shifting with this pandemic. We are given an opportunity of a lifetime to run with the moment for the glory of God.

Take time to read all of Galatians.

If you don’t already read scripture daily, it just might be the time to dig in. Jesus will keep you company while you are in isolation.

Reading the Bible in a Year is my favorite way to go about it.

Sending you cyber fruit hugs and blessings.
