Does God Create Dorks

Can adults be dorks or do kids have the corner on it? Can any of us humans be dorks? We are created in God’s image, so would He create a “dork?” If there are dorks, does that make God a dork?

Children do have the corner on being the cutest dorks ever, they just are. They shine at being silly and a closer image of God. They have the ability to see God is the simple light that brings us closer to Him.

“2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” ~ Matthew 18:2-5 (NIV)

Lord, take away my adult seriousness and help me be childlike so I can see you and be with you more fully.

There is nothing about God that seems like a dork to me. It almost sounds blasphemous to say that any of us could be a dork when we know that we are created in God’s image.

Let’s keep this simple. What if we lowered ourselves and be childlike, seeing the dork in all of us?

God has a sense of humor, we learn that through reading the Bible. There are some pretty funny things in there.

God’s sense of humor shines in us through the unique way He made each of us.

I am declaring, for right now, that I am officially a dork. I say that with the very best intentions for myself and my Creator.

Walking through chronic illness is beyond difficult. One way I get through it is to accept that right now, I am a dork.

I do dorky things because I cannot control many things with my body.

I say dorky things because I have some brain damage that has not yet been fully repaired.

I think dorky things because my thinker is taxed.

Right now, I am taking pride in being a dork because it is through the goofy that I am able to accept and rise above the circumstances of chronic illness.

It is when I can laugh at myself, call myself a dork (in good spirit), that I more clearly see God’s sense of humor.

I actually had fun this week, calling myself a dork, laughing at myself and taking pride in it. If you are chronically ill, you too will know how it feels — I Am A Dork, So What Are You?.

Let’s be dorks together as we laugh and walk through chronic illness.
